Terms & Conditions
The general terms for using our website and borrowing from Smartfore Lending.
1. About us
Smartfore Lending is a DBA of Venture Vault Investments Limited, established in 2024 (company registration no. 120241001675; licensed as a money lender by order of the Magistrate Court of Zambia, November 2026). Address: Shop No. 1, Snow White Complex, Chawama, Lusaka, Zambia.
2. Using these terms
By using our website or applying for a loan you agree to these terms. If you take a loan, your individual loan agreement also applies. If the two conflict, the loan agreement applies for that loan.
3. Who can borrow
- You must be at least 18 years old with a valid Zambian NRC, or, if you are not a Zambian citizen, a valid passport or other government-issued ID.
- You must have a working phone number and a mobile money account in your name.
- You must give us true and complete information and tell us if it changes.
- We may ask for additional documents such as proof of income or residence. Proof of residence can be a utility bill, a letter from your employer or landlord, or a letter from your local ward or area leader.
4. Our loans
Payday Express. A short-term loan from K500 up to K1,050 with a K50 underwriting fee deducted from the amount paid out. You must provide proof of income (your latest payslip, a mobile money statement or a bank statement), and your total monthly debt payments, including this loan, must be below 50% of your monthly income. The loan is repayable in full on the last day of the month (your payday). If the loan is approved after the 20th of the month, it is repayable on the last day of the following month. A guarantor may be required or supported as described below.
Asset Based Loan. A loan of up to K10,000 secured against an asset you own (minimum loan K1,050). The amount offered depends on our valuation of the asset.
The loan estimator on our website shows the fee, the interest and the total you would repay for the amount you choose. Payday Express carries 30% flat interest on the loan amount and Asset Based Loans carry 39% flat interest on the loan amount, charged once for the whole loan period. The estimator is a guide and not an offer: the final amounts are confirmed in your loan agreement.
5. Applications and approval
Submitting an application does not guarantee a loan. We may verify your details, check your information with third parties where the law allows, and approve or decline an application at our discretion. We will tell you the outcome by SMS or phone. A loan only begins when you have accepted your loan agreement and we have sent the money.
6. Guarantors
- A guarantor supports your loan. You must have their agreement before naming them, and you confirm this on the application form.
- We may contact your guarantor to confirm their role and will send them SMS reminders about your repayment dates.
- The guarantor's responsibilities are set out in your loan agreement and any guarantee form they sign.
- Giving us details of a person who has not agreed to be your guarantor is a breach of these terms.
7. Repaying your loan
- Repay on or before the due date in your loan agreement.
- You can check your balance and pay by mobile money on our Pay page using your phone number and an SMS code, or at our office. The Pay page shows your outstanding balance and takes payment of the full amount to clear your loan.
- Always keep your payment reference. We send an SMS confirmation for each payment received.
- You may repay early, but if you do you must pay all the outstanding principal and all the interest for the whole loan period. There is no discount for repaying early.
8. Late or missed payments
If you miss a payment, we charge a late fee of 0.5% of the total repayable amount for each day the payment is missed, counted from the day after the due date until you pay, as stated in your agreement. For example, on a total of K1,300 the late fee is K6.50 for each day. We may also contact you and your guarantor, and take steps allowed by law to recover what you owe. If you are struggling to pay, please contact us early so we can talk about options.
9. Asset Based Loans
- You confirm that you own the asset and that nobody else has a right over it.
- Photographs and descriptions you provide must be true and not misleading.
- We value the asset and may hold it, or documents for it, as security until the loan is repaid.
- When you repay the loan in full, we return the asset or documents to you.
- If you do not repay and the loan goes into default (more than 30 days overdue), we may sell the asset 3 days after the default, including through our auction site. We apply the sale proceeds to what you owe, return any surplus to you, and you remain responsible for any shortfall.
10. Messages from us
You agree that we may send you, and your guarantor, SMS and call you about your application, loan and repayments. These are service messages. We send marketing only with your consent.
11. Using our website
- Do not misuse the website, attempt to access other people's information, or submit false information.
- Our website content, logo and branding belong to us and may not be copied without permission.
- We try to keep the website available and accurate but cannot promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted.
12. Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Zambian law. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses caused by events outside our control, or for indirect losses. Information on this website is general and is not financial advice.
13. Complaints
If you are unhappy with our service, tell us at info@smartforelending.com or on +260 571 814 620 / +260 950 030 652 and we will respond within 5 working days. If you are still not satisfied, you may take your complaint to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, which handles consumer complaints in Zambia, or to the court that licenses us.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Zambia, and the courts of Zambia have jurisdiction.
15. Changes
We may update these terms and will post the new version here with the date above. Changes do not alter the terms of a loan agreement you have already signed.
